We have been graced with a glimpse of what is to come in A Plague Tale: Innocence. Asobo Studio’s debut its new IP by giving viewers an eight-minute of uncut gameplay footage that players may have to experience. Players will play Amicia who is traveling through a medical war-torn and plague-ridden France trying to reach the University too and some form of safety. Each step needs to be careful as rats run the streets and will appear from every crack they can get their body through. Not only are you looking out for rats but you need to keep to the shadowy light as you don’t want to face the Inquisition’s worse that patrol the streets. The one ejective that Amicia uses to push through places that had humans eaten to the bone is keeping her brother Hugo safe.

The sense of dread from watching beady eyes trying to charge at you in darkness is just a small taste to the wave of fear when they surround almost every path to your freedom. Though you don’t have any control over the situations as the trailer shows Amicia has great crafting skills for in the moment situations and when she is at a place that is more secure. There are plenty of puzzles to solve to get to your next destination and how to work light into your favor. Though you won’t be completely alone as Hugo and many others that were made orphaned by the war and sickness will try to band together to try and survive another night.

Asobo Studio and Focus Home Interactive made the game with a labor of love combining decades of experience in game development, shown by the emotional tale that has a mystery hidden in the shadows protected by the swarm of rats. Pre-orders are available for A Plague Tale: Innocences as it launches on May 14 on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
