VIZ Media Launches Two New Manga Titles: Dr. Stone and Radiant
Two major pieces of news today from manga publisher VIZ Media as the company announces the launch of two notable new series – DR. STONE and RADIANT. In Dr. Stone, one fateful day all of humanity is suddenly turned to stone. Many millennia later, high school student Taiju frees himself from the petrification and finds himself surrounded by statues. The situation looks grim—until he runs into his science-loving friend Senku! Together they plan to restart civilization with the power of science! Future volumes of the series will be published on a bimonthly basis. “Dr. Stone blends a compelling story, characters, and richly detailed artwork with real world scientific principles to form an intriguing new series,” says John Bae, Editor. “We invite readers to discover DR. STONE this September!” Dr. Stone will debut on September 4th and is the new work by Eyeshield 21 writer Riichiro Inagaki. The series is rated ‘T’ for Teens and will be published in print under the Shonen Jump imprint with an MSRP of $9.99 U.S. / $12.99 CAN. DR. STONE also launches digitally on September 4th via viz.com and the VIZ Manga App, as well as from the Nook, Kobo, Kindle, iBooks, comiXology, and Google Play stores. Future volumes of the series will be published on a bimonthly basis. In Radiant, evil creatures called Nemeses fall from the skies and the only ones who can fight them are Wizards—infected ones who survived a Nemesis’s corruption. Seth, one of these survivors, vows not only to fight the Nemeses, but to find their mythical nest, Radiant, and destroy it! “Radiant delivers a rich new world and loveable characters to fans craving a fresh take on shonen action and adventure,” says Marlene First, Editor. “We’re excited to unveil the first volume of RADIANT to our readers this fall and get a head start before the anime begins airing!” Radiant debuts on September 11th and is a supernatural action and adventure series created by French-born artist and writer Tony Valente. A Japanese-produced anime adaptation of Valente’s manga will premiere this fall.
