The story of a perfect boy who had a perfect plan.. |
| Director George Ratliff presents Sam Rockwell and Vera Farmiga as Brad and Abby Cairn, loving new parents who live in Manhattan with their beloved and gifted son, Joshua. Joshua seems to be the perfect son, a prodigy, surpassing the intelligence of kids years older than him, and far beyond his years. However, after the birth of their second child, Lily, Joshua begins to show a new side of himself. When pets start dying and Lily is heard choking in the middle of the night, Joshua is put back into focus by his parents and regains the attention he yearns for. But at what cost? This psychological thriller is fits the bill of the ever-popular horror-film family dynamic: the evil son. Winner of the Cinematography Award at Sundance, this film as been referred to as "Hichcockean," a word few modern thrillers and horror films are associated with. Horror movie buffs might view Joshua as reminiscent of The Omen, the story an ideal couple's son being born as the devil incarnate. However, Joshua is not the hundredth remake of The Omen, and the storyline is much different, putting "sibling rivalry" to a new level. Also starring: Celia Wetson, Dallas Roberts, Michael McKean and Jacob Kogan as Joshua himself. In theaters July 6th |
