PlayStation 3’s big move, and the beginning of a worldwide gaming phenomenon, will be upon us this October.
All hail Sackboy, the mascot and main character for MediaMolecule’s LittleBigPlanet, which is just as much of a puzzle game as it is a treatise on hyper-realistic video game physics. With every single detail of this game painstakingly crafted from recognizable real-world materials, the graphic detail alone has been a significant undertaking. Soon, the fruits of intensive labor will be realized next month. This could be the title that benchmarks the PlayStation 3 as a “must-have” system, whereas up until now it has been highly criticized for its unnecessary existence. In other words, we finally have a title that cannot have been merely reproduced for the PlayStation 2’s current hardware.

All customization, all the time! From the onset, your own personal Sackboy can be changed to fit your moods in both outward and “inward” appearances. Not only can Sackboy be trussed up to please your eye, but even his emotional responses are yours to arrange. After that’s complete, feel free to stroll through the game’s pre-created levels. After you’re done, make your own and share with your friends. The capstone of LittleBigPlanet has been world customization since its debut trailers and test runs. You can even make levels that require the co-operation of other gamers through the PlayStation Network. Up to four Sackboys can populate the same level and either explore fanciful creation or assist to solve puzzles and make it to the goal.

LittleBigPlanet’s community is sure to grow exponentially within a few weeks after the release. For those who are interested in getting an earlier start, if you haven’t already, take a browse on the main website for up-to-date news, downloads, and trailers.
