February is shaping up to be a wild and weird month for horror. It starts with two theatrical releases, one pretty scary-looking and the other, well just plain scary for all the wrong reasons. There are also tons of good, bad and ugly Blu-ray and DVD releases coming down the pipe for your entertainment. And finally an interesting new horror themed television show hits the air this month as ABC gets into the supernatural game.

The Woman In Black February 3

Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, sheds his Hogwart’s robes in this ghostly tale. Radliffe plays Arthur Kipps, a young lawyer who travels to a remote English village where he discovers the angry spirit of a woman wreaking havoc on the locals. It looks pretty intense from the trailer. Also stars Sophie Stuckey (The Dark) and Roger Allam (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides



Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance February 17

Nicolas Cage reprises his role as Johnny Blaze, stunt man turned flaming vigilante, in this pointless sequel to the 2007 film. On this ride, Johnny attempts to stop the devil from taking human form. This time he’s bringing Ciaran Hinds(Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy) and Idris Elba (Thor) along for the ride.

Day of the Dead 3D February 7

Ving Rhames (Mission Impossible III) and Nick Cannon (Drumline) star in this 2008 reboot of the Romero film. It now comes to you in mind-blowing 3D. The small town of Leadville Colorado is in dire straits when a mysterious virus creates walking dead that crave living human flesh. A tiny group of people are strangely immune and must fight zombies and the military in order to escape the town.



Dorm Of The Dead February 7

Get ready zombie lovers, here’s another zombie tale to whet your appetite. Check out this little gem about a zombie outbreak on a college campus. Ryan DeLuca (Curved) is Cory, a slacker student who must get his act together in order to save his younger brother and help a quirky group of survivors.



Filth To Ashes, Flesh To Dust February February 7

A good ol’ slasher pic starring a cast relative newcomers that include Meredith Laine, Linda Bella and Anton Troy. A group of thrill-seeking teens venture to the lair of a dead serial killer. Once they arrive, the murders begin again.



The Dead February 14

When his plane crashes off the coast of Africa, the sole survivor, Lt. Brian Murphy struggles ashore only to face a horde of re-animated dead. As he fights to survive, he crosses paths with Sgt. Daniel Dembele, whose village has been torn apart by the flesh-eaters. He is searching for his missing son. They join forces, searching to find the boy as well a way out. The first zombie flick set in Africa should prove very cool. Stars Rob Freeman (Pumpkinhead: Blood Feud) and Prince David Oseia.



Inkubus February 21

Here’s one for Robert Englund fans. The night shift of a soon-to-close police station are in for a nightmare battle when a man walks in with the severed head of a murdered girl and claims to be a centuries old demon called Inkubus. Also stars William Forsythe (Boardwalk Empire) and Joey Fatone (My Big Fat Greek Wedding).



Where The Dead Go To Die February 21

This is an animated horror film about a group of troubled kids haunted by a dog named Labby. This strange talking dog whisks them away on hell rides in different dimensions and time periods. With the voices of 80′s scream queen Linnea Quigley (Return of the Living Dead) and Ruby Larocca.



Wolf Town February 28

College students stumble upon an Old West ghost town overrun by pack of savage wolves. Shy Kyle must overcome his own insecurities and rise to the occasion to save himself and his friends. Stars Liev Fiehler, Josh Kelly and Alicia Ziegler.



Television



The River February 7

Steven Spielberg executive produces this new series from Paranormal Activity director Oren Peli about a team that goes into the uncharted Amazon in search of a missing explorer. Weird and horrific things begin to happen the farther upriver they go. Stars Bruce Greenwood (Star Trek), Joe Anderson (The Grey), Leslie Hope (24)and Thomas Kretschmann (Valkyrie). Airs on ABC Tuesdays at 8 CST.
