Vulture is currently reporting that Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence are set to star alongside one another in the upcoming film Serena, a 2008 novel about timber magnates and their iron-fisted rule of North Carolina.
Based on Ron Rash’s book, the film will follow George and Serena Pemberton (Cooper and Lawrence), a pair of young newlyweds who turn War of the Roses on each other when Serena finds out she can’t have children of her own; an issue complicated by the fact that George has an illegitimate son.
This is a HUGE step for Lawrence, especially since she is best known for nabbing the role of Katniss in The Hunger Games, and that Angelina Jolie was once vying for the role. However, I believe come March 23rd when Games hits theaters Lawrence will be a household name.
Cooper and Lawrence can also be seen together onscreen this November in The Silver Linings Playbook, an adaption of Matthew Quick’s quirky novel about a recently released mental patient (Cooper) and the girl who lives next door to his mother, which is directed by David O. Russell.
Filming is set to begin shortly and will be directed by Susanne Bier.
