New ‘Logan’ Promo Clip Shows X-23’s BRUTAL Origins

Given that Hugh Jackman’s final outing as Wolverine is set to be an R-rated affair, it’s logical to expect that Logan will be quite the hard-hitting film. The claws will be out in this one, so to speak, and Fox will no longer be reining in the blood and the violence in attempts to garner a much wider audience. They’ve committed to giving Wolverine the film he deserves, and will rely solely on the strength of the product itself, as well as its advertising.

We all know this, and all the same, it’s pretty cool to see this mentality carry over to the marketing. Fox has just released a new promo clip for the new film, and in it, we get to see the origins of mini-Wolverine, Laura Kinney, a.k.a. X-23. In the comics, Laura is the 23rd and only successful attempt at cloning Wolverine, and with this clip, it seems to confirm that she has a similar beginning.

If the second trailer for the film was any indication, this little girl will be one violent spitfire — one that’s just as dangerous as Logan was in his prime (see: X2: X-Men: United). This new clip seems to drive that whole idea home, especially when we see her cutting herself with her claws. She ain’t afraid of pain, that’s for sure.

The synopsis for Logan is as follows:

“In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.”

Logan hits theaters on March 3, 2017!
