This has certainly been the long time in the making. As was revealed about a year or two ago in an interview with Kevin Smith, Arrow was originally sort of a test for The Flash. Did the creators love Arrow? Absolutely. But at the end of the day, it was a means to introduce The Flash. Time has passed, and in that time, we’ve received two more big shows set in the same universe: Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow.
Last year saw a big crossover between Arrow and Flash that spawned Legends, and if you thought that was big, just wait. Last night, we got our first taste of the four-part crossover that spans all four DC CW shows, and that’s set to continue tonight with The Flash.
Check out the behind the scenes video below!
Without a doubt, this is quite the ambitious project, though it’s never really clear how ambitious until you see a video like this that pulls back the curtain. As revealed in the video, rather than waste time spreading out the entire production, every show is shooting simultaneous, with the actors’ schedules planned so that they can be shooting Arrow and Legends in the same day. In order to make this possible, the producers needed to rent out a giant space so the actors could hop from set to set with little problem.
Sounds like a lot of fun, and we’re excited to see this whole scenario play out this week!
Stay tuned on The CW this week at 8/7c each day to see the continuation of this huge saga!
Last night was Supergirl, tonight is The Flash, tomorrow night is Arrow, and Thursday night is Legends of Tomorrow!
