Dave Grohl vs. Glee
Dave Grohl really knows how to express how he feels about something. The Foo Fighters front man doesn’t believe that a band should feel pressured to have their songs performed on Glee. The 42 year-old told The Hollywood Reporter, “It’s every band’s right, you shouldn’t have to do f***ing Glee. Dude, maybe not everyone loves Glee. Me included. I watched 10 minutes and it wasn’t my thing.â€
Grohl wasn’t only bashing the show itself, but the Fox hit’s creator, Ryan Murphy. Earlier this year, Murphy ridiculed Kings of Leon and Guns N’ Roses man Slash because they refused to lend their music to the show. The former Nirvana drummer directed his anger at the previous blows. “The guy who created Glee is so offended that we’re not, like, begging to be on his f***ing show,†said Grohl. “F*** that guy for thinking anybody and everybody should want to do Glee.â€
I’m not taking sides, but I kind of have to agree with Dave Grohl. Why is it that Glee has become a cultural phenomenon? It’s not like it has to be a rite of passage for any artist to have their music on the show. Why can’t music just be music anymore without having it be turned into an A cappella musical featuring Lea Michele?
