Fox nabs Lincoln Vampire Book

Twentieth Century Fox is going vampire hunting with Abraham Lincoln — in 3D.

A bloody bidding war raged this week-end for the rights to the screen adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s fantasy action book Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Fox won.

Tim Burton and Bekmambetov are producing the project with Timur Bekmambetov directing with an estimated budget of $69 million. Rumors are that production will begin immediately for a 2012 release.

The story of Grahame-Smith’s book tells of the driving force behind Lincoln’s political life and battle to end slavery is his quest to kill vampires, who feed off slaves. Even Lincoln’s assassin, John Wilkes Booth, is a vampire.
