Eccentric and infectious conjurer of sound, Tom Waits, is putting out a new album this October titled, Bad As Me. The album due out the 25th, is the first release of new material for Waits since 2006’s collection Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers, and Bastards and promises to be just as exciting. Waits, an interminable critic favorite, is switching things up again, moving from scandalously delicious skids row theatrics to a new more band heavy sound. The title track “Bad As Meâ€â€”available on Waits’ site—reveals a much greater pop sensitivity than the artist has shown in the past. With rum tinted horns and dynamic, tumbling drums the track beats the listener to a glorious pulp and drowns them in a tumbler gin.
The lyrics for Waits’ new album are available on his site as well as the list of tracks for the new album. Also available is a video featuring Waits, pulling another of his absurd shenanigans when confronting the media.
