For Colored Girls brings to the screen Ntozake Shange’s Obie Award-winning play, a poetic exploration of what is to be of color and a female in this world.

Lionsgate has changed the release date to Nov. 5, instead of the film’s original launch date over Martin Luther King weekend. The move, which will position the film for year-end awards consideration, is meant to bolster the company’s remaining 2010 slate, said Lionsgate.
