Noted 'Newsweek' Columnist and Author Jonathan Alter to Read from and Sign Copies of New Book 'Between the Lines' at Borders.

Jonathan Alter is senior editor and an award-winning columnist at "Newsweek." He is also a best-selling author of "The Defining Moment: FDR's Hundred Days and the Triumph of Hope." In addition to his duties at "Newsweek," he is a contributing correspondent and analyst for NBC News, appearing regularly on "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" and other network and MSNBC programs. Now, Alter has put together "Between the Lines," a collection of his columns that has been published by Borders and is being sold exclusively at Borders and Waldenbooks stores as well as on Borders.com

For more than 20 years, Alter has witnessed the biggest events of our  time. He was in the Soviet Union when communism was collapsing, in Florida  during the historic 2000 recount, at Ground Zero just after 9/11 and in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Featuring insightful articles about these events and many others, "Between the Lines" assembles some of the best work from Alter's career at "Newsweek." Reflecting Alter's eclectic interests, the book includes extensive analyses of the Bush and Clinton families; profiles of Republican presidential nominee John McCain, Warren Beatty, Paul McCartney and many others; and reflections on his personal life including his battle with cancer.

Jonathan Alter signs and reads from his new book, "Between the Lines: A View Inside American Politics, People, and Culture," which is a collection of "Newsweek" articles written by Alter that chronicles the last quarter-century of American political history.
