David Wroblewski’s novel The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, released in early June, has already seen excellent reviews. Critics are shocked that such a finely-crafted novel has been written as a debut novel by Wroblewski. Even his editor, Lee Boudreaux, thought the book was nothing like he had ever seen before among first novels.

According to Wroblewski, the book has been in progress since 1996 when he penned portions of it as ideas. Before forming his ideas into a full novel, he enrolled in the Warren Wilson MFA in Writing Program where he studied with well-known writers Richard Russo and Margo Livesey. Ten years from its conception, the novel was complete and became ready for publication acceptance. Critics and ordinary readers alike have observed that they were ten years well spent.
