NBA 2K12 Legends Showcase DLC – Basketball’s Greatest

NBA 2K12 launched earlier this year with an outstanding basketball gaming experience. Combining fluid controls and a realistic television broadcast style, NBA 2K12 became a sports highlight for gamers this year. Furthering the cause is the latest DLC for NBA 2K12, entitled Legends Showcase. Allowing gamers to take the court as their favorite players from several decades, Legends Showcase is an enjoyable alternative and addition to the game.

Different from the game itself, the Legends Showcase DLC features a cell-shaded graphics style and games such as Horse, 21, and 3 vs. 3. These unique game types allow for a nice change of pace from standard league play. There are a decent amount of shot options for Horse, allowing you to choose the type of shot, arc, and other elements that make the game popular. 21 also adds an interesting solo element to what is otherwise a team sport, and helps break up the standard 4-quarter format.

The 4 vs. 4 and 3 vs. 3 formats are enjoyable with the legend players, as you can choose from several decades of basketball stars. NBA 2K12 does a nice job of adding some great legends spanning a large timeline, though certain fans will probably be disappointed at the exclusion of a few of their favorites.

The game mostly stands out due to the cell shading style given to the DLC. Rather than use a “realistic” graphics approach, the cell shading adds a completely different style and tries to make the DLC stand out as it’s own separate experience. Some will find this to be a cool stylistic choice, others may not like its overall look.

With a lot of great leagues and ways to play the realistic NBA 2K12, the Legends Showcase DLC adds a nice change of pace and different game play for basketball fans. If you’re into the combination of old and new with some different game types, then definitely check out this DLC.
