The Italian-subtitled trailer may have been satisfying, but the real story that left everyone at Capcom’s Captivated conference feeling good was the updated release date that puts Resident Evil 6‘s arrival up the calendar from over a month earlier from its original drop date. While the trailer did display the original 22.11.12 release, the numbers simply faded away, and in place of them was 2.10.12. October 2nd is a much better release date for RE6, as it will allow horror fans a solid and scary experience in time for Halloween.
The trailer itself gave away more information than just the new release date, and in fact showed some familiar faces that have been quite surprising for RE fans. Instantly recognizable was the return of Ingrid Hunnigan, Leon Kennedy’s radio support and contact during the course of Resident Evil 4. Also returning alongside Hunnigan is no other than Sherry Berkin from Resident Evil 2, and making his debut in RE6 is the son of Albert Wesker, whose first name is not revealed in the trailer.
With such a star-studded cast and a vastly better release date, RE6 may very well pull the series into the stratosphere when it gets released in early October.
