As a solo artist and founding member of the Jet Life Crew, Young Roddy has built a successful career for himself, learning from some of the most talented rappers in the game. One of his most influential mentors, Curren$y, took Roddy under his wing and helped refine his talent. Since 2007, the two artists have worked together countless times including the massively successful collaboration album Plan of Attack (with Trademark Da Skydiver), so it’s only fitting that they link up on Roddy’s brand new single, “After Hours.” What’s more, Roddy was also able to tap Smoke DZA for a verse, creating a star-studded lineup for fans to enjoy.

Produced by Drupey Beats, the track sees all three artists in their element, flowing over soulful production and effortlessly trading off energetic verses. Roddy kicks things off with a smooth entrance, then Smoke DZA steps in, dropping a fantastic verse before passing it off to Curren$y, who puts the cherry on top. When a cast like this steps to the plate, everyone expects them to hit it out of the park, which is exactly what they have done. While they aren’t collaborating as frequently as they were at the beginning of their careers, it’s always a treat to see them reunite; they possess a calming, yet infectious energy and their lyrical content is always refreshing.

“‘After Hours’ represents the grind we put into this game. We are ready to feed the streets this hood gospel,” Roddy told HotNewHipHop, which premiered the single.

“After Hours” serves as the lead single for Roddy’s upcoming EP, “God, Family, Money.” The EP drops on September 24th, giving listeners enough time to absorb the single before the project comes out.
