Hatched in singer-songwriter Carey Ott’s basement studio on 13th street, Nashville, in 2018, the Freaks of Nashville collective is comprised of a group of working musicians with an interest in combining the groove and political fire of live Afro-beat with Ott’s thoughtful lyrics and complex melodies.

Carey Ott and fellow Nashville musician Frankie Hill (formerly of iconic Chicago bands Heavy Manners and Liquid Soul) relaunch Freaks of Nashville as a music portal on select streaming services that will co-release and help promote singles from visionary artists across the Nashville music spectrum. Carey’s “World Gone Crazy” debuts the forum and features an “End of Days” ear worm hook, a signature Frankie Hill sax solo in the second verse, and the song reprises as a stream of conscious spoken word essay.

“World Gone Crazy” has a futuristic film noir vibe that is complemented by the official lyric video, which uses footage from Andrei Tarkovsky’s 1972 science fiction classic Solaris. Imagine, if you will, Leonard Cohen covering “Ghost Town” by The Specials on a winding highway toward an uncertain destination.
