DreamWorks Animation is bringing Peter Brown’s beloved, award-winning bestseller, The Wild Robot, to the big screen. The story follows Roz, a ROZZUM unit 7134 robot, who is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island. There, Roz learns to adapt to the wild environment, builds relationships with the island’s animals, and becomes the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.

The film features an impressive cast, including Lupita Nyong’o as Roz, Pedro Pascal as fox Fink, Catherine O’Hara as opossum Pinktail, Bill Nighy as goose Longneck, Kit Connor as gosling Brightbill, and Stephanie Hsu as Vontra, another robot on the island. Additional voice talents include Mark Hamill, Matt Berry, and Ving Rhames.

Written and directed by Chris Sanders, known for How to Train Your Dragon and Lilo & Stitch, and produced by Jeff Hermann, the film promises to be a powerful story of self-discovery, exploring the intersection of technology and nature and what it means to be alive and connected.

Brown’s The Wild Robot, first published in 2016, became a #1 New York Times bestseller and inspired a trilogy. His work has earned numerous accolades, including a Caldecott Honor and a Horn Book Award, cementing his status as a celebrated author in children’s literature.
