Produced and directed by Dawn Mikkelson, “Minnesota Mean” features roller derby stars Brickyard, Hurtrude Stein, Smoka Hontas, Shiver Me Kimbers, Diamond Rough, and Switch Please. The soundtrack, predominantly by indie hip-hop artist Dessa, complements the film with her aggressive yet thoughtful style. Dessa, well-known in the US and UK, also hosts the BBC podcast Deeply Human.
