Null Games, the developer-friendly indie publisher of games that put the player first, today announced a couch co-op demo is now available for Demon Spore, an action roguelite inspired by 80’s horror puts players in the role of a terrified scientist, scavenging mazes of rooms for tools and makeshift weapons that might offer a shred of hope for survival. As the virally expanding mass of flesh and tentacles spread throughout the facility, options begin to fade away, bringing the need for careful planning and improvisation to escape alive. And in true roguelite fashion, the level’s layout changes after each death, meaning no two runs will be the same. Demon Spore is developed by DinoBoss Ltd. and will be coming to Steam in 2025.

Up to four friends can team up in local co-op or through Steam Remote Play to attempt to escape the lab together in this all new demo. Players will need to choose their character and role carefully and watch each other’s backs as they work together to survive this tentacle-infested hell.

The new Demon Spore couch co-op demo features:

  • Fight and flight: Scramble across the first floor of Protagenics lab to start your escape – if you can make it to the elevator, you’ll be well-prepared for the horrors in the full release.
  • Survive together: If the challenge is too much alone, team up with 4 players on the couch, across the world with Steam Remote Play Together, or a mix of both.
  • Applied science: Strike back using six experimental weapons, including a tesla coil gun and a scalpel thrower – there’s many more to come in the full release.
  • Instructions not included: Ransack the lab for equipment to increase your damage, move faster, resist acid or flame, or predict where the creature will grow next.
  • Investigate the outbreak: Discover voice memos left by fleeing scientists, get medical help or ammo from technicians and rescue a terrified staff member trapped in the facility to unlock them.
  • Particular skills: Each playable character in the demo comes equipped with a unique equipment perk according to their background.
  • Work the system: Access Security Consoles to lock down a room and trap the creature, or cleanse it with flames, giving you a new escape path to the elevator.
  • Breaking containment: You may not make it on your first try, but giving up is not an option. Each treacherous attempt has a new layout and new equipment, so choose your route carefully.
