Norwegian duo Smerz are back with “Feisty,” the latest and final preview of their much-anticipated new album Big city life, out May 23rd on Escho. Known for their minimal yet emotionally charged sound, Henriette and Catharina continue to expand their sonic world with this new release. “Feisty” is a track about partying after a breakup — that strange, exhilarating space where heartache gives way to freedom. It’s a shimmering blend of offbeat disco rhythms and Smerz’s signature cool, sweetly accented vocals.

The music video for “Feisty” captures this energy perfectly, following the duo through a night out on the streets of Oslo. It’s vibrant, raw, and celebratory — much like the song itself, which invites listeners to let go and lose themselves in the moment.

This single follows the release of earlier tracks “A thousand lies,” “You got time and I got money,” and “Roll the dice,” each offering a different glimpse into the world of Big city life. The album, four years in the making, collects stories both real and imagined. It’s a reflection on apathy, loneliness, self-conversation, love, and the almost manic freedom that comes with embracing transition.

Smerz describe Big city life as a sonic rite of passage. It captures that unique tension where awkwardness and confidence collide, creating something raw and real. Listening feels like entering a friendly maze — familiar yet unpredictable, intimate yet extroverted. It’s the sound of two teenagers whispering songs in their bedroom, now grown into artists unafraid to embrace shiny, unhinged freedom.

With Big city life, Smerz offer a collection that is both deeply personal and universally resonant — a vibrant document of change and liberation.

Big city life is out May 23rd on Escho.
