The beloved “Maker” series just leveled up. ACTION GAME MAKER, the latest development toolkit from Gotcha Gotcha Games (a subsidiary of Kadokawa Corporation), officially launches today on PC via Steam. Built on the powerful Godot Engine 4.3, this intuitive tool empowers both new and experienced developers to create 2D action games—no coding required.
From the same creators behind RPG Maker and Pixel Game Maker MV, ACTION GAME MAKER offers a deep but accessible game creation experience. With a visual node-based scripting system, users can build platformers, shooters, puzzle games, and more using pre-built “Actions” and drag-and-drop logic. A huge built-in asset library helps you hit the ground running—or you can bring your own graphics for a completely original style.
Want to test it out first? A fully-featured demo is available now through Friday, June 19, offering the entire toolkit for free during the trial window.
Even without programming knowledge, users can animate characters with both sprite and 2D bone systems, craft dynamic environments with particle effects and shaders, and design polished UI elements with ease. As skills grow, GDScript support lets creators graduate to more advanced scripting within the Godot ecosystem.
To celebrate the launch, ACTION GAME MAKER is 10% off from now through Monday, June 30. Early adopters who purchase by Saturday, July 21 will also receive the Maker All-Stars Skin Pack for free. This bonus includes 20 iconic characters from across the “Maker” series, ready to be dropped into your creations.
Gotcha Gotcha Games encourages developers to connect with fellow creators through the RPG Maker Guild, the official community for all “Maker” series tools. The Guild offers forums, tutorials, and news updates in both English and Japanese.
“We are proud to bring ACTION GAME MAKER to the broader game development community,” says Yusuke Morino, Producer at Gotcha Gotcha Games. “We’re excited to see what incredible games our users will create.”
ACTION GAME MAKER is available now for $99.99 USD on Steam, with language support in English, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), German, Spanish (Latin America), Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, and Korean.
