Nine Inch Nails have returned with their first new music in five years, unveiling the official video for their single “As Alive As You Need Me To Be.” Directed by Maxime Quoilin, the visual mirrors the song’s rising tension, tying directly to the lyric “All these hands have got a hold of me.” Produced by Ryan Hahn with creative direction from mtla.studio, the clip expands the song’s sense of claustrophobic intensity.

The track is the lead single from TRON: Ares (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), arriving September 19 via Interscope Records. The New York Times praised it as “a return to the buzz-bomb synthesizers, stomping march beat, stereo ricochets and gut-wrenching vocals of the band’s heyday.” While Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have an acclaimed history in film scoring—earning Oscars, Golden Globes, a GRAMMY, and an Emmy—this marks the first official film score credited to Nine Inch Nails. Disney’s TRON: Ares opens in theaters October 10.

Fans got an early surprise last night at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, where the video was screened after the band’s sold-out show, even spilling onto nearby subway station screens. The North American “Peel It Back” tour continues across the southern U.S., concluding with two nights at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on September 18 and 19, with Boys Noize supporting.
