Approaching the 10-year anniversary of his critically acclaimed 2016 album Sonderlust, Kishi Bashi (aka Kaoru Ishibashi) today shared his new single “Comin’ To You,” a minimalist yet vibrant B-side from his third album. To further celebrate, he also announced a 2026 headlining tour, during which he’ll perform Sonderlust in full.
The run begins in late March with performances at Boise, ID’s Treefort and Knoxville, TN’s Big Ears festivals, and will take him across the country — including an April 3rd stop at Chicago’s Thalia Hall and an April 11th show at New York’s Irving Plaza — before wrapping in Atlanta, GA. Tickets go on sale Friday, October 17th.
Renowned for its playful arrangements, whimsical production, and Ishibashi’s distinctive pop sensibilities, Sonderlustremains one of Kishi Bashi’s most personal and artistically adventurous works. Created through experimentation with synths, sampling, and resampling, the newly released “Comin’ To You” — built around a frenetic loop and soaring, euphoric vocals — perfectly captures the album’s inventive spirit.
With a sound that continually evolves, Kishi Bashi bridges classical and pop influences to create music rich with emotion and imagination. His latest album, Kantos, explores sci-fi and philosophy, while his 2019 LP Omoiyari and its Emmy-nominated companion documentary delved into Japanese American identity and resilience.
