The streets are slick with rain, the air thick with secrets, and a body is waiting at the docks. Obsidian Moon, the noir detective sim from Lost Cabinet Games, has launched its first public playable demo as part of Steam Detective Fest, inviting players to step into a grim 1930s-inspired world of crime and consequence.
You play as Carter, a once-brilliant homicide detective unraveling under the weight of grief, booze, and bad decisions. The demo throws you straight into your first murder investigation, where every lead, lie, and instinct shapes the outcome. Whether you lean on forensics, pressure suspects, or take darker shortcuts, the case adapts to your choices, offering more than 30 possible investigative paths.
Unlike a short teaser, this demo is a full, self-contained case designed to show the game’s true depth. Expect 20 to 45 minutes of gameplay, an in-game tutorial, and access to nearly the entire feature set, including the moody Noir Mode that defines Obsidian Moon’s atmosphere.
The demo is available now on PC via Steam during Steam Detective Fest, starting January 12. The full game is set to launch in 2026, and players can already wishlist it to follow Carter deeper into the city’s darkest secrets.
