Apple TV is heading back into the space race with Star City, a gripping new drama that expands the acclaimed universe of For All Mankind. Created by Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert and Ronald D. Moore, the eight-episode alt-history thriller promises a tense new perspective on one of history’s biggest “what if” moments.
Set in the same reimagined timeline as For All Mankind, Star City explores a world where the Soviet Union beats the United States to the moon. But instead of focusing on the American side of the race, the new series takes viewers behind the Iron Curtain, diving into the lives of Soviet cosmonauts, engineers and intelligence officers working inside the high-stakes space program.
Described as a “propulsive, paranoid thriller,” the series examines the immense pressure, political tension and personal sacrifices that fueled humanity’s push into space. The story promises both espionage-driven suspense and emotional drama as its characters navigate ambition, loyalty and survival during one of the most pivotal eras of the 20th century.
The ensemble cast includes Rhys Ifans, Anna Maxwell Martin, Agnes O’Casey, Alice Englert, Solly McLeod, Adam Nagaitis, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, Josef Davies and Priya Kansara.
Star City will premiere globally on Apple TV on Friday, May 29, with its first two episodes. New episodes will roll out weekly every Friday through July 10.
