Borderlands 4 just cranked its endgame chaos up another notch. With Version 1.7, 2K and Gearbox have unleashed a second free raid boss: the relentless duo Subjugator and Thol the Invincible—and they are not here to play nice.

Locked behind the campaign’s finish line, this encounter drops Vault Hunters onto a remote island where two immortal brothers, bored and bloodthirsty, crave a fight worth remembering. What follows is a brutal gauntlet of coordination, reflex, and stamina.

The fight opens as a tag-team brawl before spiraling into a synchronized assault. Take one brother down, and the survivor ascends, dragging you into their domain: the airy, lethal “Heaven” against Subjugator, or the claustrophobic lava pit of “Hell” versus Thol. Either way, survival demands mastery.

Version 1.7 also raises the stakes with UVHM Level 7 timed runs, pushing players to shred bosses fast for tiered rewards. Hit Silver or higher to unlock exclusive Class Mods; reach Platinum for guaranteed Legendary loot and a shot at Pearlescent gear.

Speaking of loot, new toys include the escalating Jail-Broken Gatling SMG, explosive-heavy Legendaries, fresh Class Mods, and precision-based firmware.

Beyond the raid, Pearlescent drops are more common, shared progression can be toggled off, and cross-platform saves are in development.

Next stop: June 25, with another raid and fresh DLC incoming. Gearbox’s latest update proves Borderlands 4 still thrives on chaos, challenge, and ridiculously satisfying loot explosions today
