Samsung has introduced the Odyssey G8 G80HS, a 32-inch gaming monitor that aims to do something few displays can claim: deliver 6K resolution with high-refresh-rate gaming performance. The new model is being described as the world’s first 6K gaming monitor, combining a 6,144 x 3,456 panel with a 165Hz refresh rate at full resolution and a 330Hz mode at 3K.
The monitor is clearly built for enthusiasts who want both stunning detail and fast motion handling. Samsung says the G80HS also supports a 1ms gray-to-gray response time, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, Nvidia G-Sync compatibility, and HDR10 and HDR10+ Gaming, all of which point to a premium gaming experience.
Beyond gaming, the G8’s sharp resolution makes it attractive for creative work and everyday desktop use. Samsung has paired the display with a fully adjustable stand and a modern port selection that includes HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort, and USB connectivity.
The catch, of course, is that 6K gaming at high frame rates will demand serious graphics horsepower. For players with top-tier PCs, though, the Odyssey G8 G80HS looks like a showcase monitor that blends cutting-edge resolution with real gaming credentials.
