Brooklyn’s own LAILA! is stepping into summer with a new sound, a new visual world, and the official start of her next musical era.
Fresh off touring with Kali Uchis on the For the Girls national run, the self-producing singer, songwriter, and creative force returns with “Miss Mango,” her first release of 2026—out now via Three Times Louder. The track arrives as both a sun-drenched summer anthem and a statement of intent: playful, confident, and fully in control.
Written and produced by LAILA! herself, “Miss Mango” continues the creative trajectory first introduced on her critically acclaimed 2024 debut album Gap Year!. This time, she leans into breezy island textures and an empowering narrative about reclaiming self-worth after losing yourself in the wrong relationship. As LAILA! puts it, the song speaks to “all the Miss Mangoes out there”—a reminder to stop chasing validation and recognize your own richness instead.
The accompanying visual doubles down on that vision. Filmed in St. Thomas, the video—creative directed by LAILA! and directed by Moldyroom—feels like a saturated dream: warm light, ocean air, and a colorful, cinematic world that mirrors the track’s emotional glow. It also marks LAILA!’s official debut as a creative director, expanding her already hands-on approach to her artistry.
The rollout has been building momentum beyond the music itself. Ahead of release, “Miss Mango” was teased through Instagram’s original Anyway spot as part of a new creator initiative with Meta.
It follows a breakout year that saw Gap Year! earn praise from Pitchfork, Billboard, Complex, Vogue, and VIBE, alongside performances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, COLORSxSTUDIOS, and the BET Awards pre-show. She’s also been spotlighted in Rolling Stone’s Future of Music issue and named to Billboard’s 21 Under 21, with a 2026 Clio Music Awards win further cementing her rise.
