The wait just got a little more magical. During D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event 2026, SQUARE ENIX and Disney & Pixar Games confirmed that Kingdom Hearts IV will launch in late 2027, with a brand-new trailer offering fans their biggest look yet at the next chapter.
The headline surprise? A vibrant new world inspired by Disney and Pixar’s Coco. The trailer also brings back familiar faces, including Donald Duck and Goofy, while revealing that players will get to take control of Mickey, Donald and Goofy as they search for clues about Sora’s whereabouts.
The story picks up with Sora exploring the mysterious city of Quadratum, where the Heartless are wreaking havoc. From there, expect the series’ signature mix of Disney and Pixar worlds, new characters, fresh powers and plenty of surprises.
The announcement came as part of a special DEEP DIVE into Kingdom Hearts panel celebrating the franchise’s 25th anniversary, bringing together creative talent and voice actors to look back at the saga and tease what comes next.
And there’s more: Disney also revealed that an original Kingdom Hearts anime series is in development for Disney Channel and Disney+, in collaboration with series creator Tetsuya Nomura and the SQUARE ENIX creative team.
Kingdom Hearts IV is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in late 2027. For fans who have been waiting for the next adventure, the countdown is officially on.
