Sometimes the best songs come from the least glamorous places. For rising singer-songwriter Brynn Wood, that place happened to be a bathtub.
Wood wrote her debut single, “Time Zone,” while attending Stagedoor Manor, the famed theater camp that brings together young performers from across the country. In the middle of camp’s nonstop energy—and what Wood describes as an “army of extroverts”—she ducked into a bathtub to find some quiet. What came out was a song about missing someone who was never quite yours to begin with.
“Time Zone” captures that oddly specific ache of being somewhere exciting while your mind is somewhere else entirely. Built around intimate details and honest emotion, the song explores the blurry territory between friendship, romance and everything that never quite got defined.
Produced by Adam Zelkind, “Time Zone” features strings arranged and performed by Niall Taro Ferguson, whose credits include work with Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus and Shawn Mendes.
As Wood’s first official release, “Time Zone” is more than a debut—it’s an introduction to a young artist with a knack for turning fleeting moments into something you can feel long after they’re over.
“Time Zone” is out now on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music and all major streaming platforms.
