Nicolas Cage fans have a couple of reasons to clear some space on the home theater shelf this holiday season.
Two of Cage’s most recognizable action movies, Con Air and National Treasure, are coming to 4K Ultra HD SteelBook on November 10.
First up: Con Air. The 1997 action blockbuster puts Cage in the middle of a hijacked prison transport plane alongside John Malkovich, John Cusack, Steve Buscemi and Dave Chappelle. It’s got everything you’d expect from a big ’90s action movie — massive stunts, memorable characters, explosions and plenty of Cage intensity.
Then there’s National Treasure, the 2004 adventure that sent Cage searching for a legendary treasure hidden somewhere in American history. As historian and cryptologist Benjamin Franklin Gates, Cage must decipher clues and protect one of the country’s most closely guarded documents: the Declaration of Independence.
Basically, one movie has Cage trying to survive a plane full of criminals. The other has him trying to steal the Declaration of Independence.
Both movies have been restored in 4K with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, giving fans a chance to experience the explosions, chases and treasure-hunting action with upgraded picture and sound.
The National Treasure 4K SteelBook includes bonus commentary from director John Turteltaub and actor Justin Bartha. The limited-edition Con Air 4K SteelBook includes the 4K UHD, a Blu-ray with bonus features, and a digital code.
So, if your idea of holiday entertainment involves Nicolas Cage, questionable decisions and extremely complicated situations, November 10 is already looking pretty good.
