Start your engines, Star Wars fans. The next big race is almost here.
The galaxy’s most dangerous racing league is opening its doors tomorrow as Star Wars: Galactic Racer launches October 6 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
But this isn’t simply another trip around the Mos Espa Circuit.
Developed in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, Star Wars: Galactic Racer takes the franchise’s legendary podracing and drops it into a larger, high-stakes racing adventure set in the lawless Outer Rim.
And this time, losing can hurt.
Welcome to the Galactic League
With the Empire gone and the galaxy trying to rebuild, racing enthusiast Darius Pax creates the Galactic League—a secretive, unsanctioned racing circuit where syndicates provide the money and pilots risk everything for glory.
Unfortunately for Pax, the League has fallen under the influence of its champion, Kestar Bool.
Bool isn’t just fast. He’s ruthless, connected, and willing to do whatever it takes to remain on top.
That’s where Shade comes in.
A mysterious pilot with a personal grudge against the Bool family, Shade is recruited by Pax to enter the League and challenge its corrupt champion. Along the way, Shade gets some help from energetic engineer Hibi and a familiar face from Star Wars racing history.
Yes, that podracer.
Every Run Is a New Race
One of the game’s biggest twists is its runs-based campaign.
Rather than simply progressing through a traditional series of races, players will choose their path through the Galactic League. Different events offer different challenges, upgrades, and rewards.
But there’s a catch.
Crash too many times and your run is over.
You’ll have to regroup and start again, carrying only certain perks and unlocks into your next attempt. That means every new run offers another opportunity to make different decisions, improve your ride, and hopefully get one step closer to taking down Kestar Bool.
It’s racing with a little roguelike-style pressure thrown into the mix.
Tune Up and Tear Across the Galaxy
Between races, players can explore the paddocks where racers meet, trade stories, issue challenges, and prepare for what’s next.
Hibi’s workshop is also where players can customize their rides with new parts, stat boosts, and abilities. The idea is to build a machine that fits your particular racing style rather than simply chasing the biggest numbers.
And then there’s Derven Acos.
The newly revealed location is essentially the ultimate Galactic League test—a massive custom-built arena that combines the different planetary conditions players encounter throughout the game into one brutal racing gauntlet.
In other words: bring your best ride.

Podracing Goes Beyond Mos Espa
For longtime Star Wars fans, perhaps the biggest attraction is seeing iconic podracers competing outside the familiar Mos Espa Circuit.
Players can experience podracing as part of the single-player story, or jump directly into the action through Arcade mode. The game will also feature online multiplayer events focused specifically on podracing.
So whether you’re here for Shade’s story, the customization, the competitive racing, or simply the chance to fire up a podracer and cause some intergalactic trouble, there’s plenty waiting beyond the starting line.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer launches tomorrow, October 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The Outer Rim is ready.
Are you?
