The secrets aren’t over yet.
Apple TV’s thriller Imperfect Women is officially returning for a second season, and this time, the spotlight is shifting to fan-favorite Eleanor, played by Emmy Award winner Kerry Washington.
Washington will reprise her role and executive produce the new season alongside fellow Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss. Creator Annie Weisman is also back, teaming up with The Chi and Snowfall writer Justin Hillian as co-showrunners.
Season two will take the story in a new direction, with Eleanor returning to her roots on Martha’s Vineyard. On the surface, it’s an idyllic community. Underneath? Secrets, scandals and old wounds are waiting to come back to life.
Unlike the first season, which was based on Araminta Hall’s novel, the new chapter will be built around an original story.
And that could make things even more interesting.
After the success of season one, Apple says the new story will expand the world of Imperfect Women while putting Eleanor front and center. Washington says she’s excited to step back into the character, describing Eleanor as intelligent and strong—but also someone who finds herself in complicated, messy situations.
Sounds like trouble is heading back to Martha’s Vineyard.
Imperfect Women is produced by 20th Television and Apple Studios, with Washington’s Simpson Street and Moss and Lindsey McManus’ Love & Squalor Pictures also involved.
Season two doesn’t have a premiere date yet, but one thing is clear: Eleanor’s story is far from finished.
