Marvel and Magic: The Gathering are teaming up for something a little different. Unveiled at New York Comic Con 2026, Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Darkhold Destiny will be the first Universes Beyond set built around an entirely original story set in the Marvel Universe.
The new adventure spans nearly 30 dimensions, bringing together mystical forces, mythical powerhouses, and some seriously dangerous villains. At the center of it all are Doctor Strange, Thor, Hela, and Dormammu, with a brand-new narrative designed to blend Marvel storytelling with Magic’s strategic gameplay.
And that’s not all. The story will also expand into an original Marvel comic, with its first digital chapter arriving February 26, 2027. The physical edition is scheduled to hit shelves the week the set launches on April 9.
More Marvel Magic on the Way
Wizards of the Coast also revealed two upcoming Secret Lair collaborations for fans and collectors.
The Secret Lair Countdown Kit: Marvel’s History of Heroes brings together 30 cards featuring artwork from more than 30 artists, celebrating iconic moments from Marvel comic book history. The limited-edition collection goes on sale November 2, 2026, for $199.99.
Meanwhile, Secret Lair x Marvel: Doomsdrop puts Doctor Doom front and center, with a few other Marvel favorites expected to join the fun. Details remain under wraps, but Doom fans will want to keep an eye on this one.
Between an original multiverse-spanning storyline, a companion comic, and new collectible drops, Marvel and Magic are giving fans plenty to look forward to. Darkhold Destiny arrives April 9, 2027—and this time, the fate of the Marvel Universe may be in your deck.
