Today marks the long-awaited release of Palehound’s latest album, “Eye On The Bat,” on the esteemed Polyvinyl Record Co. This critically acclaimed masterpiece serves as a powerful testament to the shattering of illusions amidst profound change. With its intricate blend of raw nerves and propulsive instrumentation, the album captures the tumultuous journey of relationships, exploring the minutiae that either construct or dismantle them, followed by the ensuing emotional deluge. While El Kempner’s mesmerizing and unconventional guitar skills remain at the forefront, their singular poetic voice takes a daringly honest turn, no longer veiling the pain behind metaphors. Kempner explains, “It’s about me, but it’s also about me in relation to others. After hiding for so long… I was ready. I think I flipped.”

In addition to their headline tour across North America, Palehound has excitingly added three new dates to support the highly acclaimed group boygenius. As the tour traverses major cities like NYC, LA, Chicago, DC, Seattle, and Philly this fall, fans can expect to witness Palehound’s magnetic live performance alongside their latest musical offering.

“Eye On The Bat” marks Kempner’s newest release since their previous works, “Black Friday” in 2019, and the collaborative project “Doomin’ Sun” in 2021 as part of Bachelor with Jay Som’s Melina Duterte. Recorded in intermittent sessions throughout 2022 at Flying Cloud Recordings in the Catskills, Kempner stepped into the role of co-producer for the first time, working alongside Sam Evian (known for his work with Big Thief and Cass McCombs). Kempner also acknowledges the indispensable contribution of multi-instrumentalist Larz Brogan, affectionately referred to as their “platonic life partner” and a longstanding member of Palehound since their Boston DIY days, who played a pivotal role in shaping the album’s final form.

“Eye On The Bat” is a sonic revelation, representing Palehound at their most expansive and accomplished. While the album’s content may not exude hopefulness, it serves as a poignant reminder to listeners that if they have endured what came before, they possess the strength to face whatever lies ahead. With this latest release, Palehound solidifies their position as an artistic force to be reckoned with, leaving an indelible mark on the musical landscape.
