San Diego’s cult-favorite trio The Black Heart Procession have announced the remastered reissue of their 1998 debut album 1, due via Solid Brass Records, alongside new headlining tour dates set for February 2026.
Originally formed in 1997 as the dark, cinematic offshoot of Pall Jenkins and Tobias Nathaniel (ex–Three Mile Pilot), The Black Heart Procession quickly carved out a singular space in the late-90s underground. 1 introduced a sound steeped in atmosphere and melancholy — creaking pianos, reverb-soaked guitars, and Jenkins’ unmistakable, confessional vocals. The newly remastered single “Blue Water – Black Heart” is available now on all DSPs, offering a first taste of the updated release.
Over the years, the band has featured a rotating cast of collaborators, including members of Modest Mouse, Rocket From The Crypt, The Album Leaf, and more, while Jenkins and Nathaniel have remained its emotional core. Across eight albums released on labels like Touch & Go, Headhunter, and Temporary Residence, the band has become a defining presence in gothic Americana, slowcore, and experimental rock.
The reissue of 1 arrives with updated artwork, setting the stage for further archival releases through Solid Brass Records, beginning with the Hearts and Tanks EP, streaming for the first time in September 2025.
