In the final Panel From Hell event, new details about “Baldur’s Gate 3: The Dark Urge” were unveiled. The event was streamed live from a medieval abbey, complete with the charm of a community theater production.

Over the past few weeks, Larian Studios has been dropping hints about the final playable Origin character in the community-led murder mystery, “Blood in Baldur’s Gate”. Unlike other playable protagonists in “Baldur’s Gate 3”, the Dark Urge is a fully customizable character. Players can choose their class, appearance, species, and gender, emphasizing that evil can inhabit anyone, regardless of their outward appearance.

As the Dark Urge, players start “Baldur’s Gate 3” with no memory, following an unfortunate interaction between a parasitic tadpole and their brain. All that remains is a relentless urge, which manifests in the subconscious, deepest thoughts, and dialogue options. The Dark Urge’s primary method of operation is brutal and indiscriminate murder.

Despite the Dark Urge’s violent tendencies, players are still part of an adventuring party on a challenging journey to Baldur’s Gate. The party will try to support the player, and it’s still possible to form relationships and romances with the closest party members. The nature of these relationships, however, will be unique and dependent on the player’s choices.

The event also revealed the third and final central antagonist of “Baldur’s Gate 3”, Orin the Red, portrayed by Maggie Robertson. The timing and circumstances of meeting Orin will be determined by her.

“Baldur’s Gate 3” places a strong emphasis on character identity. The character creator allows for extensive customization of the protagonist’s appearance, stats, and background. At launch, players will have even more options for creating diverse, personalized characters, including new skin options, tattoo designs, makeup customization, and more.

The game also offers a variety of opportunities for romance. Each relationship is unique, with some slowly developing into mutual physical desire, while others might start with a passionate night and evolve into something tender and sweet.

“Baldur’s Gate 3” will be released on August 3 for PC and September 6 for PS5.
