Fans of classic battle royale chaos have something big to look forward to. Black Ops Royale is dropping into Call of Duty: Warzone, bringing back the gritty, scavenger-focused spirit of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode.

Launching Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 9 PM PT (midnight ET), the mode arrives with Warzone’s Season 02 Reloaded update. Matches feature 100 players in 25 squads battling across the massive Avalon map from Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. You’ll drop in with only a pistol and a wingsuit as an electrified perimeter steadily closes in.

Unlike traditional Warzone, Black Ops Royale removes custom loadouts, buy stations, and the Gulag. Everyone starts on equal footing, scavenging weapons with fixed archetypes and rarity-based upgrades (up to five attachments). Expect Blackout-inspired mechanics like bullet drop, trauma kits, and tiered armor. Movement is fluid thanks to omnimovement, grappling hooks, swimming, and ziplines. Perks are now flexible consumables, and optional events—like bounties and strongboxes—offer rewards such as UAVs.

Avalon has been reworked for battle royale with expanded land routes and fewer water zones, with seasonal updates like tidal flats planned for Season 3. The free-to-play mode ties directly into Black Ops 7 progression, including challenges, camos, and the Counter Skies Event Pass starting March 17.
