2K and Gearbox Software have officially announced that Borderlands 4 is available for pre-order on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, with a global launch date set for October 3, 2025. The next installment in the iconic looter-shooter series will bring all the chaotic, over-the-top action fans expect—this time with the portability and power of Nintendo’s next-gen console.

“On behalf of the amazing team at Gearbox, I am thrilled we can bring Borderlands 4 to Nintendo Switch 2 so quickly,” said Gearbox founder and president Randy Pitchford. “The new features of the Switch 2 make it an amazing way to experience our biggest and best Borderlands game.”

Borderlands 4 has been fully optimized for Switch 2, featuring online and local co-op, GameChat for instant communication, and screen sharing** to strategize with friends or show off epic loot. Players can also connect a USB-C camera to chat face-to-face while taking down enemies across the planet of Kairos.

The game introduces four new Vault Hunters—Vex, Rafa, Harlowe, and Amon—each bringing unique playstyles to crush the tyrannical Timekeeper and his deadly Order. With dynamic level scaling, instanced loot, and a seamless open world, Borderlands 4 is built from the ground up for co-op gameplay.

Switch 2’s Joy-Con 2 mouse functionality adds a fresh layer of precision and agility to the mayhem, while virtual game cards make it easier than ever to share the game across devices linked to a Nintendo Account.

Three editions are available:

  • Standard Edition – Base game for $69.99
  • Deluxe Edition – Includes the Bounty Pack Bundle and bonus content for $99.99
  • Super Deluxe Edition – Adds the Vault Hunter Pack, new story packs, and more for $129.99

All pre-orders include the Gilded Glory Pack* with exclusive skins for your Vault Hunter, weapon, and drone.

Whether you’re a veteran or a newcomer, Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 promises to be the most accessible, action-packed installment yet. Prepare to loot, shoot, and explore like never before on October 3.
