Love hurts—but in Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival – Love Story Trailer, it positively eviscerates.
This themed cut of the upcoming single-player survival horror game reframes the franchise’s familiar torment as a tragic romance. At its center is Aidan, a man so consumed by devotion that he descends into a Hell-like underworld to rescue his girlfriend, Sunny. The trailer paints his quest as a doomed love story—an Orpheus and Eurydice myth drenched in chains, ritual symbols, and flayed flesh.
Sensuality and suffering intertwine in true Hellraiser fashion. Lingered glances give way to body horror; desire morphs into mutilation. Pinhead and the Cenobites appear less as mere villains and more as dark priests presiding over a sacrament of agony, preaching transcendence through exquisite pain. In their world, bliss and torment are indistinguishable.
Released amid the “season of love,” the trailer deliberately contrasts Valentine’s devotion with eroticized sacrifice and obsession. Dialogue snippets and imagery foreground the series’ core philosophy: pleasure is pain, beauty lies in suffering, and unchecked desire opens forbidden doors.
Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC—with Doug Bradley returning as Pinhead—Hellraiser: Revival positions itself as a character-driven descent into obsession. Players battle cultists and infernal entities using weapons that double as instruments of misery and delight.
