The countdown has begun — Cronos: The New Dawn launches on September 5, and Bloober Team’s latest Developer Diary peels back the curtain on its haunting world. Known for their mastery of psychological horror in SILENT HILL 2 Remake, the studio now invites players into a gripping tale of survival, identity, and the end of humanity.
Set in Nowa Huta, a district of Kraków, Poland, the game unfolds across two starkly different timelines: a gritty industrial 1980s and a desolate post-apocalyptic future. This rare blend of retro realism and dystopian sci-fi builds an atmosphere both eerily familiar and utterly alien.
At the center of the narrative stands The Traveler — a figure bound to humanity’s fate. The new Dev Diary, featuring Game Producer Klaudia Sewera and Lead Narrative Designer Grzegorz Like, dives deep into the game’s most guarded secrets: why humanity fell, the unsettling process of soul extraction, and the fateful choices surrounding who must be chosen. This isn’t merely a horror story — it’s a layered journey through time, memory, and the shattered echoes of a broken world.

Players will also meet The Warden, a mysterious Traveler first revealed in the recent story trailer. Voiced by Alan Turkington, The Warden is a keeper of tools and guardian of the central hub where players will return throughout their journey. His philosophy and presence stand in stark contrast to The Traveler’s path, hinting at moral conflicts and hidden truths that will unfold in real time alongside the player.
With its meticulous world-building, branching story, and deeply atmospheric design, Cronos: The New Dawn promises not just scares, but an emotionally charged exploration of what remains when civilization collapses.
The game arrives on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®5, PC (Steam & Epic), and Switch 2. Preorder the Deluxe Edition for 48-hour early access starting September 3.

On September 5, you won’t just play the story — you’ll live it, side by side with The Traveler.
