Legendary creator Hideo Kojima has announced an all-new original animated series, DEATH STRANDING ISOLATIONS (working title), coming exclusively to Disney+ in 2027. The reveal took place during today’s Disney+ Originals Preview at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, where Kojima appeared alongside director Takayuki Sano of E&H Production to unveil the project.
Inspired by Kojima’s award-winning 2019 masterpiece DEATH STRANDING, which captivated over 20 million players worldwide, this new series marks the franchise’s first-ever venture into animation—and Kojima’s first partnership with a global streaming platform.
DEATH STRANDING ISOLATIONS will tell an entirely new story, separate from the video games. Set in the hauntingly beautiful world of DEATH STRANDING, the series follows a young man and woman on a perilous journey across a fractured America, where the dead linger and isolation reigns. Featuring hand-drawn 2D animation by Japan’s top artists at E&H Production and concept art from Ilya Kuvshinov (Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045), the show promises to capture the emotional depth and existential mystery that define Kojima’s universe.
As the story unfolds, new characters wrestle with solitude, survival, and the human need for connection—echoing the spirit of Sam Bridges’ original mission.
With DEATH STRANDING 2: On the Beach launching earlier this year on PlayStation 5, ISOLATIONS extends Kojima’s visionary world even further.
And now, as the tagline warns—comes another explosion.
