Disney Lorcana is leaving the storybook behind and heading into the big city.

Hyperia City arrives with a October 16, 2026 prerelease, followed by its October 23 general release, bringing a new urban setting, characters from Coco and Big Hero 6, and an intriguing new gameplay mechanic: ink drops.

Welcome to Hyperia City

This isn’t a setting built around a single Disney movie. Hyperia City is a full-blown magical metropolis filled with street performers, shops, nightlife and distinct neighborhoods, including City Center, Old Towne Hyperia and the Marigold District.

The city’s glimmers—Lorcana’s versions of familiar Disney characters—are getting a chance to experience city life.

Big Hero 6 gets plenty of attention, too. At the Multidisciplinary Academy for Genius, Imagination, and Creativity (M.A.G.I.C.), Honey Lemon and her fellow glimmers are investigating the mysterious technology behind ink drops. Meanwhile, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are trying to figure out why they’re suddenly appearing around the city.

A Drop of Ink Changes Everything

The big gameplay addition is ink drops, temporary resources that can give players a little extra flexibility.

You can spend an ink drop to play cards from your hand, but some cards also become more powerful when you have an ink drop available. That creates an interesting decision: use it now or save it for a bigger payoff?

Early previews already show some clever possibilities. Go Go Tomago can generate an ink drop when challenged, Wasabi gets stronger while one is in play, and Jousting Match can deal three additional damage when an ink drop is used to play it.

Lead designer Lukas Litzsinger says the mechanic can “completely change the tempo of a game.”

That’s a pretty big promise—but we’ll have to see how the complete set plays before declaring ink drops a game changer.

Coco Finally Arrives

One of Disney’s most requested properties is finally joining Lorcana.

Coco makes its debut with the Rivera family and Ernesto de la Cruz, along with songs and plenty of the movie’s colorful musical spirit.

There’s also a nice mechanical connection to the film’s themes of memory and family. Some cards reward players for having glimmers that have “passed on” in the discard pile. One previewed location even provides extra lore when you have at least 10 cards there.

It’s a clever way to turn one of Coco‘s central ideas into gameplay.

What Collectors Should Watch

Collectors have plenty to look forward to, particularly the set’s Enchanted cards. The artwork leans into nighttime concerts, evening adventures and characters pursuing their passions.

Two Iconic cards have also been announced:

  • Mickey Mouse – Best in Town
  • Cinderella – Unintentional Icon

And one important clarification: Collector Boosters and serialized Illustrious cards are not part of Hyperia City. Those arrive with Into the Inkdark, the first Lorcana set planned for 2027.

For now, Hyperia City’s collector appeal is centered on its Enchanted and Iconic cards.

When Can You Get It?

The set launches first during prerelease events on October 16, available through participating game stores and select Disney Parks and stores.

The general release follows on October 23.

The announced product lineup includes standard booster packs and 24-pack display boxes, an Illumineer’s Trove with storage and accessories, and a Prerelease Box featuring exclusive keepsakes.

And with the set still days away from release, it’s probably too early to declare which cards will dominate competitive play.

For now, Hyperia City looks like a fun mix of Disney spectacle, musical magic and a genuinely interesting new resource mechanic.

The city is about to open.

And Lorcana players are invited in.
