October is creeping closer, and with it comes the return of a frightful fan-favorite. Indie horror publisher DreadXP, in partnership with The Media Indie Exchange (The MIX), is once again hosting The Indie Horror Showcase—a digital event highlighting the latest and greatest in independent horror games from around the globe.

Now in its third year, the showcase has grown into a must-watch celebration of all things spooky, unsettling, and delightfully dreadful in gaming. Submissions are officially open now through September 19th, giving developers the chance to spotlight their creations in front of a massive horror-loving audience.

The numbers speak for themselves: last year’s event featured over 70 trailers and announcements, drew an estimated 60,000 live viewers, and included exciting moments such as the reveals of White KnuckleMonster DNA, and Please Insert Disc. Fans also got release dates for Nightmare HouseOut of Hands, and Among Ashes, along with fresh trailers for The Thing: RemasteredBye Sweet Carole, and darkwebSTREAMER.

DreadXP and The MIX have worked hard to ensure that this showcase isn’t just another reel of trailers, but a platform designed to elevate indie voices in horror. By providing a space for open submissions, the event levels the playing field, offering both seasoned studios and solo developers a chance to terrify audiences worldwide. This year, organizers are also pursuing expanded co-streaming opportunities to ensure even more visibility for participating titles.

The lineup for the 2025 showcase will be revealed closer to the event, but horror fans can expect a diverse mix of experiences ranging from eerie atmosphere-driven titles to fast-paced survival nightmares. Developers should note that any games or trailers incorporating generative AI will not be eligible, as the focus remains firmly on original human-crafted horror.

For gamers, The Indie Horror Showcase has become the perfect way to kick off the Halloween season, delivering first looks at what’s next in the genre. For developers, it’s a chance to be part of a growing community dedicated to pushing the boundaries of fear in interactive storytelling.
