What happens when the Foo Fighters invite you over for dinner? Apparently, you bring a side dish—and maybe play a few songs while you’re there.
For the latest installment of Vevo’s “Extended Play” series, the Foo Fighters open the doors to their legendary 606 studio in Los Angeles for an intimate potluck dinner, a little musical history, and four live performances from their new album, Your Favorite Toy.
Dave Grohl arrives with the makings for BLTs, while the rest of the band brings their own specialties. Rami Jaffee shows up with his “Los Angeles Kugel,” Nate Mendel brings salmon, Chris Shiflett has green beans, Ilan Rubin brings freshly baked sourdough, and Pat Smear supplies the ice cream sandwiches.
Over dinner, the band talks about the sounds and experiences that helped shape Your Favorite Toy, from their hardcore roots to the music they discovered growing up.
Then, naturally, they plug in.
The film features live performances of “Child Actor,” “Of All People,” “Caught In The Echo,” and “Unconditional.” It’s an unusually relaxed look at one of rock’s biggest bands—part dinner party, part conversation, and part live session.
And honestly, watching the Foo Fighters debate musical influences over a plate of food sounds like a pretty good way to spend an evening.
