crêpe girl shares her latest single “KEEP IT SIMPLE!,” another instant classic from French-American artist Eliza Grégoire’s new EP, STARGAZING. The 5-song EP is set for release on March 22 via Norwegian tastemaker label 777 Music, and crêpe girl will headline a record release show in Los Angeles at Gold Diggers on March 24
“‘KEEP IT SIMPLE!’ is about wanting to be with someone so much even if they don’t want anything real with you, and clinging on to them while thinking you have tough enough skin to endure that,” notes Grégoire. “It hurt writing and definitely brought up a lot of things emotionally for me… It’s one of my most honest songs.”
crêpe girl previously released the EP’s lead single and video for “DRUG,” a collaboration with rising Chilean / Norwegian producer bob junior (boy pablo, Cuco, Alfie Templeman). The queer love anthem is full of her signature swagger and the understated cool that crêpe girl has been gaining recognition for. Queerty covered the track release and wrote “The song is a headrush of sapphic feels, adorned with the artist’s signature “understated cool” vibe and joyous synth-heavy production. With playful nods to girl in red and the catchy line “two queens in a king-sized bed,” the song is an anthem that embraces queerness in an authentic, perfectly packaged indie pop punch.”
The name crêpe girl originates from the bedroom pop Grégoire began to craft and the crepe stand she ran while she was in college in Denver. “I was making crêpes backstage for Clairo’s band and crew before her show, and Mac [DeMarco] happened to show up at my stand,” Grégoire’s recalls. After that, she ended up joining DeMarco at Red Rocks and making crepes at his show.
