Genshin Impact is heading somewhere it’s never gone before — the moon.

HoYoverse has revealed Version Luna VIII, Sunny Summer Fontinalia, launching July 1, and it’s packed with major surprises. Leading the charge is the return of Sandrone, the Seventh of the Fatui Harbingers, who makes her debut as a playable 5-star Cryo Claymore character after her shocking sacrifice during the battle of Nod-Krai.

Fans who thought Sandrone’s story had ended will finally learn the truth behind her mysterious resurrection. In battle, she introduces the new Cryo-Electro reaction, Stellar-Conduct, opening up fresh team-building possibilities and powerful new combat strategies.

But the biggest adventure lies beyond Teyvat itself. For the first time, players can travel to the Frost Moon, a permanent new region featuring glowing lunar seas, ancient ruins, gravity-bending exploration mechanics, and stunning views of Teyvat from space.

Back on familiar ground, the Fontinalia Film Festival returns with a permanent story event featuring Charlotte, Citlali, Columbina, and Sandrone. Players can earn Charlotte for free, unlock a new outfit for her, and enjoy a variety of summer-themed activities and rewards.

With a highly anticipated new character, a brand-new elemental reaction, and an entire moon waiting to be explored, Luna VIII looks set to be one of Genshin Impact’s most ambitious updates yet.
