After more than a decade of hacking through Cairn’s horrors, Grim Dawn is gearing up for one last massive ride. Developer Crate Entertainment has officially announced that Fangs of Asterkarn, the third and final expansion for the beloved ARPG, launches July 23, 2026 on Steam, GOG, and the Humble Store.
And “massive” is not an exaggeration.
Crate says Fangs of Asterkarn is the biggest expansion Grim Dawn has ever received, capping off the game’s 10+ year run with a sprawling new region that dwarfs previous expansions. The frozen land of Asterkarn stretches across more than six square kilometers, packed with snowy mountain passes, steaming hot springs, hidden secrets, and piles of new loot for players to uncover.
The expansion also introduces the Berserker, Grim Dawn’s long-awaited 10th mastery. This savage shapeshifting class lets players transform into beastlike forms while opening up a staggering 45 dual-class combinations for build-crafters to experiment with.

For veteran players hungry for a challenge, the new Ascendant mode sounds like the real headline feature. It transforms the entire campaign into an endgame gauntlet where every boss, dungeon, and encounter is tuned to push even the strongest builds to their limit.
Fangs of Asterkarn also adds potion customization, affix transmutation, awakened Epic items, expanded Shattered Realm content, new factions, super bosses, roguelike dungeons, and even more Crucible waves for dedicated arena grinders.
As if that wasn’t enough, all Grim Dawn players will also receive the free v1.3 update alongside the expansion launch. The update brings long-requested quality-of-life upgrades including a redesigned stash system, UI improvements, WASD controls, HDR lighting, improved item tooltips, balance changes, and bug fixes.
For a game that launched back in 2016, Grim Dawn clearly isn’t fading quietly into the night. If Crate promised a “tremendous roar,” Fangs of Asterkarn looks ready to deliver exactly that.
